Five Commonalities Of Magazines

Have you ever tried flipping through the pages of two distinct magazines and tried finding the commonalities? Well if you haven't, here's something that will give you an idea on what aspects these magazines are the same.

1. Front Cover. This is otherwise known as the cover page. Depending on the type of magazine, what you see on the front cover will vary.

For example, if it is about gadgets and gaming, then you will most likely see the latest gadget on the front cover. If it is about fashion, then you will surely see a well known actress gracing the cover. Lastly, if it is about gardening, well you might probably see pictures of the featured garden on that particular issue.

Each magazine has their front cover. In the front cover, you will see the name of the magazine in big, bold letters making it eye-catching and easier to read. Along with the name of the magazine, you can also see short captions about the content of that certain magazine.

2. Subscription Forms. Magazines usually have subscription forms located in between the pages. So if you want to subscribe further, all you have to do is fill up the form and send it. Once you are subscribed, you will no longer have to buy that magazine as it will be delivered to you right at your doorstep.

Subscription forms may be attached in between pages but you are not obligated to fill it up and subscribe. Whether you subscribe or not, it is your choice and no one can force you.

3. Advertisements. Depending on the type of magazine, the advertisements will vary. If it is about gadgets, computer and technology, then expect to see a full page advertisement of the latest Windows product or the latest Apple product for instance. If the magazine is about fashion, it is only natural to see models posing wearing dresses created by known fashion designers or see advertisements of known shoe brands as well as designer handbag brands.

The people who advertise on magazines have to pay whether it is half a page, full page or two pages. These people have to pay a certain amount and this is usually how a magazine makes money. The more advertisements, the more funding.

4. Photographs. In each article, you will certainly see a number of photographs that are related to it. For example, if the article is about houses, then you will see a number of shots taken in the various areas of the house. If the article is about gardens, then you will see pictures of flowers, trees and shrubs.

The photographs have to be related to the topic because this helps the reader get a better visual of what they are reading. In other words, it feeds their imagination.

5. Articles. If a magazine is filled with photographs alone, then that is not a magazine but an album. A magazine won't be a magazine without the articles.

The types of articles will depend on the type of magazine. Most articles are usually about tips and guidelines especially in fashion magazines. Other articles can be about the latest gadget or the latest online game. Some articles can be in the form of short stories like those found in teenage magazines. It can also be in the form of a discussion like those found in health magazines.

Without the articles, there will be no magazines. The articles should be arranged in a particular way that allows the readers to read it without getting lost in between the pages. The length will also vary depending on the company's protocol and the same goes for the number of articles printed for that certain issue.
